Harrison: No Country for Single Gamers

Eurogamer has a published an interview with Atari’s Phil Harrison. Harrison, who was one of the heads at Sony during the Long-Ago Time, speculates that single-player games are on their way out and we’ll soon all be a hive mind of connected n00b-pwners.
From Eurogamer:
“I don’t think the industry is going to make many more of those. I just don’t think consumers want to be playing games that don’t have some kind of network connectivity to them, or some kind of community embedded in them, or some kind of extension available through downloadable content.”
I must’ve been grocery shopping when Harrison took his worldwide door-to-door poll of gamers. I’ve always been a scary loner type who can only stand the company of her husband for extended periods, and will probably remain thus. In fact, gaming is one of those things I do when I want to be left alone, kind of like how monkeys stick out their tongues to ward off visitors.
