Metal Gear Solid 4 Is Almost Ready For YOU

The buzzer’s ready to go off on Metal Gear Solid 4. No date has been set yet, but the second quarter of 2008 is looking very likely according to Konami.
“We are on the eve of entering the bug-checking phase, which means that we’re pretty far along,” said Associate Producer Ryan Payton. The game can already be played “from start to finish,” though there are still some bugs to check for and an opening cutscene to add. After all, what’s Metal Gear without its cutscenes?
Oh Gods. What, indeed? The good news is that you’ll be able to pause cut scenes. Listen up, Other Games. This is a good idea.
More good news: Konami’s decision to release such a big title in the spring rather than around the holiday season might convince other developers to do the same. 2007’s holiday release schedule was awesome, but way, way too crowded. I felt lost and confused.
Listen to me whine about frivolous excess. I truly represent everything wrong with our spoiled first world culture.
