According to Gamasutra, Sony plans to announce upcoming Skype support for the PSP, most likely at the rapidly-upcoming CES show.
I’m the kind of person who desperately wants to turn around and slug the vapid chatterer sitting behind me on the bus. I have no idea what people find interesting enough to bother yelling about for an hour at a time over the rattle of a motor. Nevertheless, this announcement is significant. The PSP has long been advertised as a “grown up” alternative to Nintendo’s DS, and extensive communication and media options are an integral part of that image. Of course, if mother just wants to play ‘Brain Age,’ there’s an obvious winner.
Still! PSP Skype! Good stuff (unless you’re me).
CES launches on January 6th. To quote Doc Brown, we’re (hopefully) going to see some serious shit.
