We must have introductions, yes?

They say the first words in a book, a story or a diary go down in infamy. So I’ll just begin my relationship with PSMonger by saying…
Hello.
My name’s Nadia Oxford and I’ll be your blogger for this evening. Possibly far longer. I live in Toronto. I’m both a games writer and a blogger; I’ve been the former since 2004 and the latter since 2001. I guess my experience should put me among the aristocrats of the blogging world, but I am more like some shadow-skulking bastard child made “clever” by theft, cold and regular floggings from cruel masters. That’s what happens when you must make your living through freelance writing. Pay attention.
Really though (really!), I write a lot about game culture. You’ll find my stuff on 1UP.com, Next-Gen.biz, ripten.com and…other places, I imagine. I started playing video games when my mom and dad bought my brothers and I a ColecoVision from a shady guy in an alley after a Maple Leafs game. My love for the hobby survived the inevitable “Nice girls don’t play video games” phase, and voila, here I am.
I know “Playstation Monger” seems like a slightly odd choice for a blog name, but gosh, it stands out. That’s good. “Monger” is also a cool word. Very Shakespeare. Also reminds me of “mongler,” and we all know what that pertains to. If I can make people think of some creepy guy with a sharp-toothed grin whenever they think of my blog, I’m doing something right.
Seriously though, I hope to make this one of your favourite stops for Playstation news. I am happy to meet you.

W…wait. Does everyone go through the “nice girls don’t play games” thing? I wish I’d known that sooner. I really worked myself up worrying over that for a while.
